Flow – small stone Jan 24

Deception lurks beneath the surface.
A log, thrown playfully into the water,
surrenders to the stronger pull
of what lies beneath.
It floats, flows,
seemingly unaware that it is moving
in the opposite direction to the current.

Thanks for sharing another moment from your encounters with the natural world. I love what you’ve done in this poem – it’s making me think a lot about how sometimes what ‘should’ happen just doesn’t for deeper reasons to do with ‘what lies beneath’ (the log ‘should’ flow in the direction of the current) and how pointless it is to stress about that what ‘should’ happen hasn’t happened.
